On April 14, 2025, Jinan University celebrated the unveiling of the Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Graduate Home at its Shipai Campus. The ceremony was attended by Zhang Xiaoxin, Vice President of Jinan University, who delivered a keynote speech along with Ma Min, the Executive Dean of the Graduate School. The event was presided over by Han Gang, head of the Graduate Work Department of the Party Committee.

Significance of the Graduate Student Home
In her address, Vice President Zhang emphasized that the establishment of the Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Overseas Graduate School is a pivotal initiative aimed at strengthening the university's commitment to supporting students from these regions. Jinan University is recognized as the largest high-level talent training base for students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese residing in Chinese mainland. It also serves as a crucial platform for collaboration between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, thereby acting as a vital window for external exchanges.
Zhang articulated three expectations for the students using the platform:
1.Devotion to Academia: Engage deeply in academic pursuits, accumulating knowledge and honing professional skills.
2.Promote Communication: Foster an environment of mutual learning and cooperation among peers and faculty.
3.Embrace Responsibility: Act boldly in pursuing individual dreams and contribute significantly to the community and the broader goals of Jinan University.
Cultural Experience Activity
Following the unveiling ceremony, the Graduate Student Work Department hosted its inaugural event at the new graduate home: an experiential session focused on the intangible cultural heritage of Cloisonné Enamel. Under the guidance of Professor Tony Leung Chiu Wai from Linghua Enamel Art, graduate students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan had the opportunity to learn about and engage with this traditional craft, trying their hand at creating enamel art.
Student Reflections
The event drew enthusiastic reactions from students. Chen Hongling, a master's student from Hong Kong, remarked, The Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Overseas Graduate School is not only a warm nest for students but also an academic ark that carries hope. I appreciate the school for providing us with this platform, and I aim to use my skills to serve our country's development.
Another student, Liu Zhihua, an overseas Chinese doctoral candidate of Mongolian descent, expressed her gratitude: Having the chance to witness the unveiling and engage in the intangible cultural heritage experience allows me to truly understand that such heritage is not just about skill but also about honoring culture and consistency in craftsmanship.
Goals of the Graduate Student Home
The Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Graduate Student Home aims to create an integrated learning and exchange platform that combines academic and cultural experiences for graduate students from these regions. It will serve as a hub for communication, interaction, academic exploration, and cultural enrichment.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including Chen Xiaoming, Minister of the Student Work Department of the Party Committee; Zhang Run, Director of the Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Student Training Office; Li Yang, Director of the Student Employment Guidance Center; Tian Lumei, Director of the Mental Health Education Center; Wu Xiujun, Deputy Secretary of the School Youth League Committee; and several representatives of the Graduate School and graduate student cohorts.
The Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Graduate Student Home represents Jinan University's dedication to fostering a supportive and enriching environment for its diverse student body, thereby enhancing academic pursuits and cultural exchanges among students from various backgrounds.
